Solid Wood Bath Inspired By Boat

24 06 2008

Wood Bath

Swiss designer Markus Farner came up with the ingenious idea for his solid wood baths when he was busy completing a yacht for a client. The inspection was done interestingly. The client himself sat inside the wooden hull and found it very relaxing, so the idea of craeting these wood baths was born. Hand-selected high quality wood has been used in the making. Pricing is unknown, but how can we expect them to come cheap considering those stunning looks and fine lines. If you love that smell of woods and have the budget and space, these beautiful creations do deserve a place inside your already luxurious bathrooms. More images HERE.

The Nautilus :: Relax on Top of Water

24 06 2008

The Nautilus

NOT A WATERBED, but a half-bath/half-bed that aims to encourage relaxation. The Nautilus is an innovative bathroom design concept that aims to encourage relaxation, taking advantage of the latest in technology. Designed by Sandra de Miguel, Xavier Arbones, Alvaro Bermudez and Marta Fernández, the Nautilus bath with fine form factor tries to change the traditional concept of the bathroom. You can relax in the bath floating above the water, but without getting wet. You can therefore use the same water as many times as you want for relaxing until you decide that you want to submerge yourself within the water. The taps work with the latest in tactile technology and the wardrobe mechanisms use infrared sensors. Cool take on the bathroom design, but sadly, we know that most of such concepts remain a concept only. Check out more images of the Nautilus HERE.

Japan Debuts 3D TV

19 06 2008

Hyundai is offering — in Japan only — the first product for watching the 3D programs that cable stations in Japan now broadcast about four times a day.

There are a few catches:

The 46-inch liquid-crystal display requires 3D glasses; it’s expensive — $3,960, including two pairs of glasses, or about 25 percent more than a comparable regular LCD TV; and the only programs available so far include just a few minutes of video from Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido — shots from the zoo, motorcycle races and other short scenes.

Seen on regular TVs, 3D programs split the screen vertically so the same image appears in both the left and right halves. Conversely, wearing the 3D glasses while watching regular programming on the Hyundai 3D TV produces a slight 3D effect.

The TV uses stereoscopic technology called TriDef from DDD Group Plc in Santa Monica, California, which works by sending the same image separately for the left eye and the right eye.

Element Skateboards :: Push Series Decks

18 06 2008

Element Push DecksElement Push Series

Element Skateboards furthers the evolution of the skateboard deck with their new Push Construction Positive Negative Series.

The Push Deck is a skateboarding paradox. Lighter than any other deck, it’s also more durable.

This innovative structure is a result of the combination of the responsiveness and power of carbon fiber with the durability of Element’s own featherlight helium construction (i.e. there’s air inside). The upshot is a deck that sets a new standard for high-impact skateboarders. Bloggers have even gone as far as to call it “indestructible.”

The designs, the “Darrell”, the “Muska”, and the “Tave,” are the first three to be released in the Positive Negative series. We’re fans for the way the brand is reinventing skateboard construction while staying true to eco-friendly values. The wood is a result of responsible foresting; only selectively harvested trees are used in these decks.

The premium deck runs $79 and there are still a few designs in stock on Element’s website.

The ICON A5 Aircraft

13 06 2008

Loaded with features like folding wings (so you can keep it in your garage) and seat belt-like parachutes (so you can ease the whole thing down to the ground), ICON Aircraft’s new light sport airplane (LSA), dubbed the A5, might just be the ultimate joyride.

What if you had an aircraft that fit in your driveway and could take off from basically anywhere? The new Icon A5 Aircraft just made flying a lot easier. This sports plane is about the length of two compact cars and has wings that can be folded up for easy storage and transport in a trailer that hitches to your car. But the best part is that it can actually take off from the water, meaning all you need to do is drive it down to the lake and let it fly. The A5 probably won’t be available for a bit, but you can order one now for about $139,000. To see more photos click here. By the way, this thing is real.
